An Interview with NY Times Bestselling Author J.D. Barker

Ahhhh, beautiful Maine, it immediately conjures images of sleepy little fishing villages, gorgeous seascapes, and, if one author’s imagination is to be taken as reality, the beginning of just about every creepy thing that could happen begins.

We have all read (or watched) something from Stephen King. Okay most likely we all have. If not, we certainly know the name is synonymous with horror and is a cultural phenomenon. So when such a phenomena says “sure, you can reference a character from my book for one of yours…” (referencing Leland Gaunt, Needful Things) you can bet he sees greatness in Novelist J.D. Barker.

As if horror royalty cooperating with J.D. was not enough, the family of one of the greatest horror literary minds of all times, Bram Stoker, reached out to, and entrusted J.D., with notes from Bram to write “Dracul,” a prequel for Dracula.

Now, add to that he co-authors with one of the highest regarded authors of our time, James Patterson, and you get J.D. Barker. A person who believed in his abilities enough he threw everything at the chance to make this a career… one in which, it is safe to say, he has mastered, especially considering how many of his titles have made it onto the NY Times Bestseller list.

Airing as our FIRST episode in season two, join us for a fun discussion on writing styles, co-authoring, the difficulties involved in book to movie deals (yes he has several), growing up at somewhere called Crystal Lake (think anything sharp and hockey mask), and his inspirations!

His newest novel, “Something I Keep Upstairs,” releasing May 13th, is based on a real house and island that he sees daily as he jogs. Numerous stories and legends revolve around the island which helped to fuel his story. “For a haunted house to be born, somebody has to die.” J.D. Barker.

Not only a gifted writer who is well spoken and easy to talk to, he is genuinely a nice person! Stick with us through the season and find out just how nice he really as as keep this celebrated writer close!

Oh, did we forget, J.D. Barker s also having a promotion for his fans…. One lucky fan will be chosen on June 13th to bring themself and three friends for an overnight stay at the haunted house… ENTER THE CONTEST HERE.

As a reminder, this contest is open to the general public and not a product of Paranormal Patrol. Entry into the contest is on your own decision. We have no control of any aspect of this contest and will not be held liable for any circumstances resulting from this contest.
